Join us in Utopia –a place where dreams can come through
During the summer of 2009, we will be doing what nobody thought was possible. We will create our own Utopia. Utopia means the perfect society. We believe that is possible, and we want you to join us and prove it.
We invite you and your patrol to the xx experiment. During the experiment, we want to see how democracy, creativity, curiosity and practical knowledge can contribute in creating a better society. We are heading to one of the most beautiful mountain areas in Norway , Romsdalen. Surrounded by impressive mountains, rivers and wild nature will we realise our dreams in Utopia.
7 days in the fairytale country Utopia.
During 7 days in the wild nature, will we build and create the dream, follow the green thread and give each other energy through expeditions, experiments, events, explosions and food for thought. In the spectacular nature, you will participate in a journey through five themes where we will make and share memories for life, live and learn to know the nature and improve our guiding and scouting skills.
Expedition:
When we arrive in the new country Utopia, we have to look around and explore and get to know the area. Each patrol will go on a two day long expedition. You can choose between path routes for walking, paddle hikes, biking trips, cave trip and swimming trips among others.

Experiments
Utopia –the battle for a better and improved world. How many meters above sea level can you climb in two days? How hard and long do you have to bike in order to make a light bulb glow? How much water do you need to fry a sausage? You will find the answers to these questions and much more in Utopia. During the entire camp, several experiments will be held, both small and larger ones.
Events
Through out the entire week, there will be a number of drop in activities at the camp square. There will be a separate circus tent where patrols can test their theatre sport skills, dance, make music, talent competitions, sing camp fire songs, attend guitar playing lessons or even bring your own instrument and join the camp orchestra.
The opening and closing ceremonies are the main happenings where friends, the culture of sharing and cooperation across boarders bind us together. Culture in the nature gives us good experiences throughout the entire week and games and tournaments will tie us together across borders.
Explosion
On the last day, the camp will explode in colours, sound and activities. There will be talent shows in the circus tent, “energy” and tournament finals. The groups will contribute to the marked both in the streets as well as on the camp square where there will be colourful parades with music and costumes.
Utopia is a society that is based upon the contribution of everybody. Everybody will participate in the Explosion. Start already now to plan how your patrol or group want to participate!
Food for thought
The proximity to the nature gives food for thought. A pilgrim hike to one of Utopia’s highest peaks can offer Celtic traditions and reflections. In Utopia, the nature offers space for cooperation across borders and limits. Scouts and Guide owns as well as camp fires will challenge us to make a better world. Food for thought will be a green thread throughout Utopia. We never know where we will meet it, but it will help us think positive, refill us and give us inspiration which in turn will contribute to a better environment.
